2″ wide, this fabulous laurel leaf cutwork trim is made of metallic gold thread satin stitched onto non-metallic gold satin. It has a fusible iron-on backing that makes placement very easy. The glue feels quite sturdy when ironed on, but you should not rely on the glue alone to keep the trim in place if you are going to wash or dry clean the garment. I found that stitching down the points kept it all in place through machine washing. The trim held up beautifully.
It curves really nicely around a skirt hem or cloak edge, but I wouldn’t try to ask it to do tight curves.
If you want it to curve more tightly, you can very carefully cut off the borders, leaving only the leaves. (Shown this way in the detail photos on a waistcoat that we made for Napoleon at the Shaw Festival.)
This trim comes to me in 4.5 yd pieces. Since I really don’t want to cut into those unless I have to, I’m giving you a price break for buying the whole 4.5 yds.
Comes in two colors of gold.
I’ve never seen anything like it before.
